The Fear

The eye behind the glass tells me of a certain conscioussness behind the mask, and the fact that the character appears to be perhaps removing the mask excites me and terrifies me at the same time, that the 'real' is about to come out. But whilst I look at it, thinking this, I think that perhaps they aren't removing the mask at all but instead just holding their head or maybe their ears, and with that eye looking at me whilst they do this I start to wonder what I haven't noticed that they clearly have.

I feel that outside that mask, where I am, is where the filth is, whereas inside it is clear and perhaps more focused. Does this suggest a metaphorical meaning to the image? That behind the mask, the breathing apparatus, of this character the world is far more murky and fetid to look at, whilst at the same time inside it is safe and all too clear - but only to the wearer of the mask.
